First time to the Daily Dose of Optimism?

If this is your first time reading the Daily Dose of Optimism blog, thanks for stopping by! For some background on this blog, see my about page. This post provides the best ways to keep current on the site:

(a) Sign up for email updates. Enter your email in the "DDO Email Subscription" box at left and click subscribe. You will receive email updates, only on days when something is published. OR,

(b) Sign up for a free RSS reader. Try Newsgator or Bloglines (I use Newsgator's free web reader). Once you've created an account, click on this link to automatically add the DDO to your newsreader. Then, login to your RSS reader. It will take a little tinkering to get the hang of RSS for all your web reading, but it is well worth the time.

Long-time DDO readers: this post will stay at the top of the blog for the forseeable future, and new posts will appear below. Happy reading! - Ed

Email Subscribers - Upgrade to FeedBlitz

To readers who are subscribed to the DDO via email, I have upgraded the engine behind this from Bloglet to Feedblitz. Email subscriptions will work the same - you will only receive one email per day, only on days when I publish. As I have a hard time blogging daily, this is a pretty good option.

Note: if you're still not using RSS, and are interested to try, here's my prescription:

Sign up for a free account at Newsgator, or Bloglines. Once you've created an account:

If you signed up at Newsgator, click this link.

If you signed up at Bloglines, click this link.

Then, login to your RSS reader. You'll see posts from the DDO appear. Be a little patient as you figure this out, it will take a little tinkering to get this to work for you, but if you read much on the web, it is worth the time.

For fellow bloggers: why FeedBlitz? Feedblitz offers better integration with my recently-upgraded FeedBurner RSS feeds, and cool customization features for the daily email. Happy reading. - Ed

Gone Fishin'

Sorry for the lack of posting - just got back from a wedding/family reunion and haven't been able to publish for the past five days or so.

If you are sick of loading this site every day, only to find that nothing new has been written, you have two options:

1) Sign up for email updates. There is a box on the upper left side of the site. Enter your email address. Click subscribe once. You will be returned to the DDO site, and once per day, the day after anything is written, you will recieve an email with the new posts.

2) Learn to use RSS. I recommend NewsGator, but there are many others, including the popular Bloglines. (I would not recommend Google's new Reader, but you're welcome to try it.)

Sign up for an account with either Newsgator or Bloglines. Then, click on one of the links below (or in the subscribe menu at left):

Happy reading. - Ed
